Early Learning Partnership of York County (ELP)

One Acorn facilitated the Early Learning Partnership’s 2020 board retreat with a focus on economic mobility and its impact on the York community.

Early Learning Partnership leaders engaged in important conversations led by the One Acorn team to help all become better equipped to advocate for a more equitable community in York County, specifically in the area of early learning. With an eye on greater board cohesion, One Acorn assisted leaders in fully understanding Early Learning Partnership’s mission, vision, and statement of beliefs and the role board members will play in making them a reality.

Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute

One Acorn partnered with a dedicated group of professionals at the Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute, a division of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, to bring greater awareness to our community about the critical nature of informing minorities of clinical trials for cancer research. Gibbs Cancer Center has received a significant grant for expanded cancer research for this very community. The grant is a byproduct of a federal program called The Moonshot Initiative. Moonshot was launched in 2016 by President Barack Obama to accelerate cancer research and speed up the process of eradicating cancer.

Gibbs Cancer Center is a nationally recognized cancer treatment and research facility associated with the Upstate Carolina National Cancer Institute Oncology Research Program (NCORP). Locations include Greer, Spartanburg, Gaffney and Union. In 2020, a 191,000-square-foot expansion of Gibbs Cancer Center at Pelham opened, bringing clinical trials to more people in the Upstate.
