A Joint Calling

Relationships are often said to be a 50/50 proposition. We believe this statement is flawed. True relationships happen when individuals bring 100% of themselves to the partnership.

As a couple, we spend our time and resources supporting the lives of others. As community members, we serve on separate boards and committees. As congregants, we enjoy ministering through our church in different ways. As professionals, we are committed to the various organizations we work for. As parents, we find fulfillment and purpose in raising our two sons – Grant, a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and Maxwell, who attends Harvard College. Faith and family are the most important aspects of our collective journey.

As we enter this next phase of life, we are excited to bring together our unique individual experiences in a way that allows us to fulfill our oneness. One Acorn is a joint calling. Is it a company, an agency, or a ministry? For us, it is a means of supporting and guiding our hopes, vision, mission, and beliefs for our family and community. This partnership marries decades of public and private experience in banking, teaching, coaching, counseling, leadership, ministry, philanthropy, and community service. With One Acorn, we are not seeking to build our résumés. We are building a legacy of authenticity, enlightenment, and hope.

“There is nothing more lovely in life than the union of two people whose love for one another has grown through the years, from the small acorn of passion, into a great rooted tree.”

— Vita Sackville-West
